Senior quarterback Akiyuki Kaname is the son of Mitakihara Magi head football coach Tatsuya Kaname and is a few months away from embarking on the final part of his educational journey through Mitakihara University.

"I think that I have been part of something really special these past few years here at my mom's university," Kaname said in an interview at Madoka Garden. "I feel that my work is not complete yet.

"I am majoring in Liberal Arts at Mitakihara University because I have an aim to play at the next level, in the NFL or CFL. I have been at the top of the Dean's List with my grades. I have a GPA of 3.95 and will graduate with high honors.

"I have created so many great memories playing for the Magi. A lot of the teammates that I have been with—Ron, Mickey, Gale, Juan, Jojo, Fuutarou, among others—have been special. My high school teammates and I are very close, and we've won a few crystal footballs performing at our best.

"I plan to make the most of this final journey this fall because I want to make history and win a fourth-straight Heisman Trophy for myself and for the school."
