Defense delivers for Mitakihara in 90-24 victory over Missouri

The defense for Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi has been a lightning rod all year, and they helped offset an inconsistent performance from the offense en route to a 90-24 victory over the Missouri Tigers in the pouring rain at Mitakihara Stadium in Mitakihara, British Columbia.
The Magi Morning Rescue defense made 21 sacks and were led by defensive tackle Zulu Mazurek and left end Tim Sarria. Mazurek made 12 tackles and seven sacks while Sarria added seven tackles and five sacks. Free safety added 18 tackles to led the Magi.
However, the Magi did show sign of life on offense. Fullback Doug Anderson ran for 87 yards and three touchdowns while quarterback Leonard Gordon and halfback Baz De Jong added two touchdowns on the ground.
Gordon, who threw for 200 yards and a touchdown, struggled to run the offense, passing for four interceptions in one of his worse nights throwing the ball. Gordon was filling in for starter Siri Illuminati, who is out eight weeks due to a torn pectoral muscle suffered in the game against the Air Force Falcons.
Mitakihara improve to 7-0 and will host the Miami Hurricanes next week. The Hurricanes feature offensive tackle Thongnap Ockerse, the twin brother of starting left tackle Bongrip Ockerse, who was recruited by the Magi but opted to sign with Miami.
