Easy peasy for Magi reserves in 202-43 rout of Western Kentucky

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers were led out to Mitakihara Stadium like lambs to the slaughter in the pouring rain by Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi. They were beaten, broken, dismembered, disfigured, discombobulated, and most importantly...destroyed. In the first 200-plus point performance since November 9, 2024 against the Notre Dame FIghting Irish (W 216-63), Mitakihara demolished Western Kentucky, 202-43 in a complete performance by the offense, defense, and special teams.
Third-string quarterback John Townes started for the Magi and passed for 446 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 252 yards and three majors. Halfback Barrett Grant was the Magi's top rushing threat, rushing for 280 yards and seven scores. Halfback Aaron Hogan and wide receiver Jeremy Bell hauled in a couple of passes for touchdowns.
Mitakihara's defense earned 17 turnovers and were led by middle linebacker Jermaine Gates, who had 17 tackles and four sacks. Left end David Daniels led the Magi pass rush with 14 tackles and nine sacks. Quarterback Leonard Gordon, the current starting quarterback, delivered on defense with nine tackles and three interceptions while free safety Mark Franklin added seven stops and three more tackles.
"This was a good night out for the backups," Kaname said after the game. "We scheduled this game to rest a number of our starters who have been doing a lot of work the past few weeks. We now head into the home stretch with the aim to improve as a team. Great performance by the second string."
Madoka improve to 9-0 and will host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish next week in the annual Battle of the Angels.
