Kuni Hatanaka, Madoka thrash Illinois 136-62

Kunihiko Hatanaka and Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi demolished the Illinois Fighting Illini, 136-62, in Champaign on Saturday. Hatanaka caught two passes for 115 yards and a couple of touchdowns while returning five kickoffs for 353 yards and three majors.
Quarterback Leonard Gordon passed for 420 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 70 yards and two more scores. Starter Siri Illuminati would be injured with a torn pectoral muscle and will be out for two weeks.
Middle linebacker Lemon Eyre was a workhorse on defense, leading the Morning Rescue D with 26 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions returned for touchdowns.
"Lemon and Kuni gave us the spark we needed to get going," said Kaname after the match. "We knew that if we could get the supporting cast to deliver, we were going to make this a businesslike performance.
"We're taking it one game at a time and we're getting ready for next week."
Mitakihara improve to 3-0 and will return to action on Sept. 15 against the Fresno State Bulldogs in the battle for the Rose Arrow Trophy.
