Madoka ease past Arkansas State, 156-17

A joint effort from the first and second teams helped propel the Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi to a well-deserved 156-17 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves at Mitakihara Stadium in Mitakihara, British Columbia.
Quarterback Ryan Sampson passed for 178 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 102 yards. Halfback Hunter Lester ran for 138 yards and two majors while fullback Matthew Sands ran for 49 yards and two more scores.
Wide receiver Pat Jones led the receivers with five catches for 139 yards and three touchdowns.
The Morning Rescue defense made waves on Saturday, forcing 19 turnovers. Right end Bryson Garrett had a career day with seven sacks, cornerback Amir Mackey had four interceptions, middle linebacker Erik Davis had three picks and fellow middle linebacker VIctor Murphy had 10 tackles on the evening.
"A complete effort from everyone involved," said offensive coordinator Rikka Takanashi after the match. "We decided to let the backups play in the second half and even though they gave up a few point in the third quarter, they adjusted. We look to make some necessary adjustments heading into next week."
Mitakihara improve to 9-0 and host the Stanford Cardinal next week in the Battle for the Rose Arrow Trophy. Fresno State opted out of its rivalry contract with Madoka, citing a gap in competition. Stanford elected to fill in, and so the Battle for the Rose Arrow Trophy will now be contested between Stanford and Mitakihara.
