Days after the Mitakihara Magi men's football team finished their 2029 college football season with their 19th BCS National Championship, tragedy befelled the university when its star quarterback, Siri Illuminati, was killed in a motorcycle accident outside Whistler.
Illuminati, the 2029 Heisman Trophy winner, was heading towards Whistler's Blackcomb Mountain to do some skiing, when he crashed into a stone version of Ilanaaq, the inukshuk for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. His blood stained the stones indelibly and he died instantly.
"This is a sad day for everyone at Mitakihara University," said university president Dr. Madoka Kyouno. "Siri was a fun person, a very amicable person that wanted to play in the NFL and enjoy the life he lived. Tragically, it was taken away from him, and my heart goes out to all his family and friends in Barrie, Ontario.
" We will definitely miss the character and personality, but his legacy as one of the great quarterbacks to play for the Mitakihara Magi is already secure. This is what we will remember him by, now and forever.."
Siri's body will be transported back to Barrie, where it will be interred at St. Mary's Cemetery after a private ceremony. A candlelight vigil will be held at Magia Quad tomorrow.
Finally, a number of players on the Magi football team have elected to turn pro or transfer after this major event. This means that for only the second time in the history of the program, tryouts for the football team will be conducted in the spring.
