Magi roll past LSU, 175-47

Magi roll past LSU, 175-47

Quarterback Siri Illuminati passed for 335 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 293 yards and a major as Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi destroyed the LSU Tigers, 175-47, at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. However, the Young Ball Coach was not happy with one aspect.
"Onside kicks," Kaname said after the match. "That may go down as our biggest weakness of our game. We probably will not utilize the onside kick as much from now on, but at least we gave it the old college try. I also was not happy with the safety we surrendered. The players are going to have to do 94 laps up and down the Mitakihara Stadium steps as a result
"Otherwise, this was a good performance by our team. We had a game plan, stuck to it and we're pretty impressed by what we have accomplished. We finish the road portion of our season on a high and look forward to the home portion with a lot of momentum. This was a great performance by our team."
It was a solid day for the halfbacks. Barrett Grant ran for 195 yards and four touchdowns and Baz De Jong ran for 131 yards and three majors. Wide receiver Jared Nichols also ran for 211 yards and three scores while catching three passes for 11 yards and two touchdowns.
Wide receiver Patrick Means caught five passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns, while fellow wideout Kunihiko Hatanaka caught four passes for 160 yards and two more majors.
Middle linebacker Lemon Eyre led the Morning Rescue defense with 28 tackles, three sacks and a pick. Freshman cornerback Matt Smith had a solid outing, with 14 tackles, two interceptions, a recovered fumble and three touchdowns off of turnovers.
The Magi improve to 5-0 and will host Notre Dame in the Battle of the Angels for Homecoming 2029.
