In an unexpected twist to Magia Day, former Mitakihara Magi football offensive coordinator Homura Akemi has been selected to succeed Dr. Madoka Kyouno and become the third Mitakihara University president effective July 1, 2031. Dr. Kyouno has cited participation in Vancouver's bid to host the 2040 Summer Olympic Games as the new head of VOCOG.
"I am also planning to enter politics next year and become a member of Parliament for the New Democratic Party," Dr. Kyouno said in a press conference. "I am going to miss being a part of this university, but the leadership I honed in leading this campus.
"I am very good friends with Homura and I think she will be a great university president. I have no doubt in my mind that she has wonderful plans for growing the Madokampus. Her leadership and ambitions are unparalleled."
It is not certain what Akemi's plans are for the future of the university, but Dr. Madoka Kaname, the university's founder and a member of the Board of Trustees, has the inside information.
"You can expect this campus to get really, really big," Dr. Kaname said in an interview at her Nonaka House office. "Homura-chan is an aggressive woman with big dreams and she believes in the future of this university. She takes a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point, take-the-bull-by-the-horns mentality and will go the extra mile to develop new partnerships with many national and international organizations devoted to worthy causes.
"I'm a little bit scared of what Homura-chan plans to do, but in a good way. Especially because I'm with her just about every day, in and out of work. The university that I founded out of a wish is going to be in really good hands."
As usual, the Mitakihara sprint football team will be honored for their work in winning another title. The team went 9-0, winning 42-0 each time.
