Mitakihara return to BCS National Championship

Mitakihara return to BCS National Championship

Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi had one thing on their minds heading into the Magi Day game with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish: defend their Four Corners. Now they are one victory away from finally realizing their goal after destroying Notre Dame, 111-31 at Mitakihara Stadium.
Senior halfback Giovanni Bautista led the way with 206 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Jett Pinchback made three catches for 104 yards and three more majors. His brother, fellow wide receiver Kit Pinchback, made 28 pancake blocks to lead all blockers for the Magi.
Middle linebacker Roman Kollar led the defense with 20 tackles, strong safety Wong Sidebottom added 16 tackles, free safety Rocko Dunphy added 15 stops, cornerback Park Jai-Young made 13 tackles and fellow corner Greg Altaloma added three interceptions. Overall, the defense forced 11 turnovers on Magia Day.
"Our players are fully aware that the job is not done yet," said Kaname after the match. "We now have to await our opponent for the BCS National Championship Game, and to do so, we are going to ramp up the training. Things are going to accelerate from here."
Quarterback Parov Stelar II, who will be coming back in time for the national championship game, was excited to take part in his final curtain call in January.
"I wanted to finish out the regular season, but Wisconsin got me pretty good," Stelar said. "I want to finish off the year on a high note.
"We are not finished with the season just yet."
