Mitakihara "snaps", destroys Navy and losing streak, 253-0


"I have no idea what happened," said Mitakihara Magi head coach Tatsuya Kaname after the Magi shut out the Navy Midshipmen, 253-0, in Annapolis, Md. "I screamed at the top of my lungs before the players went out there in the rain to play Mitakihara Magi football, and this is their response.
"As much as I hate to admit it...we're back."
Quarterback David Fontenot passed for 365 yards and six touchdowns and backup Blake Hall passed for 338 yards and five scores. Fontenot ran for 70 yards and three majors, while Hall ran for 81 yards and two more majors.
Halback Chris Davis rushed for 94 yards and four touchdowns, while fullback Chris Muse ran for 75 yards and four more majors. Fellow halfback Hunter Lester ran for 102 yards and two scores.
Wide receiver Jonathon Edwards caught six passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns, while fellow wideout Rickey Lee passed for 111 yards and three more majors.
Left end Chas Wynn set a new record for sacks in a game with 13. It was one big sack party, with Kyouko Sakura's Morning Rescue defense tallying 51 sacks. Right end Bryson Garrett: 6.5 sacks. Right end Matt Hackett: 5.5 sacks. Defensive tackle Dustin Olsen: 7.0 sacks. Left end Deonte Graham: 5.0 sacks. Defensive tackle Mike Moore: 5.5. sacks.
Cornerback Brad McKinley led the ballhawks with four interceptions. Mitakihara improve to 1-7 on the year and have a chance for a big upset opportunity over Alabama.
