Mitakihara walk all over Ohio, 107-3

Mitakihara walk all over Ohio, 107-3

When asked of his Mitakihara Magi's 107-3 victory over the Ohio Bobcats, head coach Tatsuya Kaname had this to say. "I don't think Ohio will be moving up on us any time soon," Kaname said after the match as the press had a good laugh over it. "But credit should be given where it is due: our players had to slog it out in the rain, so we decided to keep it on the ground for the most part.
"Our offense played a fluid, technical game and really ran it down Ohio's defense. In addition, our special teams and defense delivered with big plays, as usual. All in another, just what you would expect from our team."
Halfback Aaron Hogan ran for 186 yards and three touchdowns, while fullback Doug Anderson ran for 118 yards and three scores. Seven different players scores at least one major on the ground.
A balanced defense helped propel the Magi. Bolo Yau had 13 tackles and three sacks, while right end Patrick Thompson added 12 tackles and 4.5 sacks. The biggest night, however, came from defensive tackle Zulu Mazurek, who had 11 tackles and six sacks to lead the Mitakihara pass rush.
The Magi improve to 3-0 and will have just under two weeks of rest before their next road game against Fresno State in the Battle for the Rose Arrow Trophy.
