Mitakihara win track meet over Florida State, 97-64

On the 16th Anniversary of the September 11th World Trade Center attacks, Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi won a track meet with the Florida State Seminoles, prevailing 97-64 at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

This was one of Parov Stelar II's worst nights as quarterback. Stelar threw for 351 yards and two touchdowns but also threw six interceptions, a new school record.

"As the captain of the team, the coach expects me to play to a higher level than the level I played tonight," said Stelar after the contest. "I realized that because of this, the second string will be playing next week against Fresno.

"I understand that this might jeopardize my Heisman chances, but after winning three of them in a row, I believe that a fourth is not necessary. Getting the victory is most important.

"We are in a year of transition because a lot of us seniors will be leaving the team after the season is over. This was an uncharacteristic display by us tonight."

Halfback Aaron Hogan and wideout Johnny Rich rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdowns each. Rich himself made three catches for 133 yards and two more scores.

Middle linebacker Roman Kollar led the defense with 19 tackles and three sacks. Free safety Rocko Dunphy and cornerback Mick Hartline added three interceptions each.

The Magi improve to 3-0 and continue the season next week against the Fresno State Bulldogs.
