Only one touchdown for San Diego St. in 218-7 defeat to Mitakihara

Only one touchdown for San Diego St. in 218-7 defeat to Mitakihara

"I can't believe we got blown out by a bunch of girls in ice cram outfits!"
That was the outcry from one disgruntled San Diego State Aztec football fan as he watched his Aztecs get martyred worse than Montezuma at Tenochtitlan, managing just one measly touchdown in their 218-7 annihilation at the hands of Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi at Qualcomm Stadium.
The fan went on. "I mean, what are those outfits? They look disturbing girly, and yet they blow us apart in those things! Good God! Is it the end of the world yet! Maybe the ancient Mayans were right! The end of the college football world began in 2011! Damn these Canadians!"
It should be noted that only two players on the roster are from Canada. Otherwise, the team is composed primarily of imports. And this was a day for the backups to get some playing experience.
Quarterback Ryan Sampson passed for 417 yards and four touchdowns. Sampson also ran for 225 yards and three more majors. Mitakihara, for the most part, did their damage through the ground. Halfback Chris Davis ran for 200 yards and five scores, while fellow halfback Robert Hunter ran for 194 yards and five more scores. Backup quarterback David Fontenot rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns, while fullback David Sanders added 135 yards on the ground and a major.
Wide receiver Tony Houston caught six passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns. Fellow wideouts Pat Jones and Jonathon Edwards also caught a pass for a score each. Jones also led the blockers with 31 pancakes.
Strong safety Renaldo Barrett and middle linebacker VIctor Murphy had 11 tackles each, while free safety Clay Carr added 10 stops. Defensive tackle Derek Wright had four sacks on the day. right outside linebacker Terrence Hooper and defensive tackle Dustin Olsen added three sacks each and cornerback Brad McKinley hauled in four interceptions.
Madoka improve to 5-0 and will finish their road trip next week in the Battle of the Angels against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
