Five scouts from Gensokyo, representing Mitakihara University, were on hand to scout the Texas State Bobcats, a possible opponent for Tatsuya Kaname's Magi in the 2034 BCS National Championship in San Marcos, Tex.

"Texas State are an opponent that will not test the Magi," Houraisan said on the trip to Texas via charter. "They do have a potent offense and a passable defense, but that's about it. Not a team that will sneak up on anybody."

"I will say that the Bobcats are the story of the year in college football," Reiuji said on the flight. "No one expected this team to even be unbeaten up to this point. But Air Force are an opponent Mitakihara have defeated before, so this should be an exciting game."

"I've always had a propensity for the Texas teams because they are built on speed," Hinanawi said. "They have a lot of speed on their teams. That's why we have decided to build a pipe to Texas to try an entice the best players from the Lone Star State to come to M-Town and play football."

"Once upon a time, if I am not mistaken, Texas State were a doormat at the FBS level," Nagae added. "They were moderately successful in the lower levels of college football but they had to go through several coaching changes to finally put it all together and come up with a winner.

"At least they are outlasting San Jose State. That athletics program is a joke."

"Not very often do we get called to scout for the best head coach in all of college football and the best coaching staff in all of college football and the only team based in Canada," Inaba said. "But we like it because we do get a stipend for our assignment and its a generous one.

"The Madoka athletic department had us prepared for what we have to do. Utsuho here has never done scouting in her life, not even in a video game and Tenshi is new to college football. Me and Kaguya are the only ones who have knowledge of the teams that play in the Kanto, Kansai and X League.

"For all of us, this is a one-time experience. Maybe we'll get to do it again, or another group will. Anyway, we can proudly say that it's fun to scout an opponent, especially when the team we represent finished its regular season a few weeks ago."
