Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi will have to deal with a lack of depth at the defensive tackle position. Freshman defensive tackle Jimmy Randall is transferring to UConn, citing playing time. "I'm moving on. You gotta understand what I'm going through, Coach," Randall told Coach Kaname at a face-to-face meeting with the head coach and defensive line coach Dax Hasegawa.

"We understand what you're going through, but if you didn't want to be a part of the Mitakihara experience, you shouldn't have signed with the programm," Kaname said. "This could have been the greatest thing that happened to you. Now you will be stuck playing on a team that will be lucky to win a conference title, let alone a national championship. You will regret this decision, mark my word. Now pack your bags and move out, now. Dismissed."

Afterwards, Coach Kaname held an emergency press conference, visibly upset by the decision Randall made.

"The Mitakihara family values loyalty, and players who violate this code and elect to transfer have betrayed our trust in them indelibly," Coach Kaname said. "Jimmy has 72 hours to leave Mitakihara University and Canada, as per the rule stated in the Mitakihara University Athletics handbook.

"In addition, we are planning to schedule UConn as an early-season opponent this coming season, as a result of Jimmy's decision to bail on the Mitakihara Family in his freshman season. This has been a rule for many years. We are hopeful that this year's corps of freshman will not be selfish and transfer to an inferior university out of playing time concerns."

The schedule for the 2042 Mitakihara Magi football team will be announced at a later date.
