Kaname lets Magi backups loose in win over Lobos

With Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi experiencing a sharp turnaround, the second string was activated against the New Mexico Lobos at University Stadium in Albuquerque, N.M. 

Quarterback Jeff Gross passed for 229 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 138 yards and two more scores. Backup quarterback Andre Spence passed for 106 yards and a major while rushing for 104 yards and three scores. Fullback Rashaun Manning ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns while catching two passes for 36 yards and a score. 

Wide receiver Andre Dotson led the receiving game with four catches for 82 yards and a touchdown while halfback Lester Stephens caught six passes for 65 yards and a major. Left guard Adam Simmon led the blockers with 29 pancakes.

Middle linebacker Kalvin Hinds led the defense with 22 tackles and a sack. Left end Jess Holley paced the pass rush with five sacks while defensive tackle Brian Phillips added three sacks.

Mitakihara improve to 6-0 and return to action next week in Homecoming 2044 against the Harvard Crimson.
