Madoka kick off 2044 with 86-27 rout of Iowa

Quarterback Invalid Name passed for 227 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 215 yards and three more scores as Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi blew apart the Iowa Hawkeyes, 86-27, at Mitakihara Stadium in Mitakihara, B.C.

Halfback Kohei Miyahara ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns, halfback Lester Stephens ran for 176 yards and two majors and fullback Mike Dorsey ran for 147 yards and a score. Stephens also led the receivers with three catches fro 59 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Jack Dallaire had two catches for 64 yards and a major.

Left guard Jeff Gore led the blockers with 24 pancakes, while Dallaire added 19 pancakes. Middle linebacker Jackie Bezzina led the defense with 20 tackles, while defensive tackle Androgynous Boogaloo paced the pass rush with six sacks.

"We wanted to open up our season with a very stern challenge, and we got it in the form of the Iowa Hawkeyes," said Coach Kaname after the game. "Iowa are a good team and deserved to be No. 1 in preseason rankings, but that's preseason. We wanted to prove our point and knock them out of contention.

"We still have a long ways to go, but we are kicking off our season in the right direction and have another big test next week against Ohio."

Madoka improve to 1-0 to continue their season next week against the Ohio Bobcats.
