Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi outworked the UNLV Rebels, 137-58, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. After quarterback Invalid Name went down due to injury, backup quarterback Jeff Gross passed for 148 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 105 yards and two more scores.

Halfback Kohei Miyahara ran for 261 yards and two touchdowns, halfback George Jackson rushed for 304 yards and three majors and Name ran for 216 yards and three scores. Also with a touchdown on the ground were wide receiver Karuta Kanda and tight end Ryuta Kasugano. Jackson, Kanda and wideout Charles Roland caught a pass for a score.

Left tackle Travis Battle led the blockers with 26 pancakes. Left guard Mark Barnes had 20 pancakes while allowing one sack. On defense, strong safety Harry Himemiya and middle linebacker Jackie Bezzina has 18 tackles and an interception each. Bezzina added a sack and two safeties, while cornerback Shinosuke Akasaka had two interceptions. Defensive tackles Nick Morse and Steele Ainsworth had a pair of sacks each.

"UNLV really aired it out tonight," said Coach Kaname after the game. "The two safeties Jackie Bez got were huge. I think Bez is gonna nab the Bednarik. He's a fine tackler and he might declare for the Draft early. Our offense decided to go bread-and-butter and pound it on the ground.

"I don't know if I will bring in the starters for Magia Day, because I want to give the backups some playing time, so we'll have to wait an see. It will be a game time decision next week."

Mitakihara improve to 9-0 and will host the Nevada Wolf Pack next week on Magia Day 2043.
