Magia Day 2042 is the 32nd edition of the regular season home finale game for Mitakihara Magi football that honors the athletes from the various Magi and Puella Magi teams that form part of the graduating senior class. One of those seniors is Makoto Yasaka, the offensive captain of the football team. Yasaka is the co-captain along with left outside linebacker Marcus Manning and is a straight-A student. He is expected to be on the honor roll by the end of his final year on campus.

"I had the time of my life being a part of a winning tradition," said Yasaka in an interview inside the Madoka Garden's tea house, dressed in a ceremonial kimono, meditating. "Not only did I spend time helping continue the tradition of success in at Madoka, I also worked here inside the Madoka Garden, doing the Tea Ceremony in the offseason."

Yasaka sips his cup of freshly-prepared matcha, closing his eyes and hearing the sweet music of the birds in the background. For him, this tea house is a second home, along with his dorm room.

"I got married to one of the members of the women's badminton team last year," he said. "She quit the team after giving birth to our baby daughter Keiko. Now she is a full-time mom and a full-time student.

"Being on this team was the impetus for my personal transformation from a young kid out of high school into a mature, composed, focused man of character. The coaching staff wanted to toughen us up, to make us accountable and professional in what we do. At first, it was difficult for me to adjust to life on campus, but after Mitakihara Welcome Week, I was able to familiarize myself with my role as a student-athlete and embrace the traditions that are established here on campus.

"I am not content with just winning this week's game. I want to end my career with a conference title and a national championship. If I can get that done, I will have considered my career as a Magi to be a foregone success.

"I am driven by results. The pleasure I get from success motivates me every day. Without success and without the drive for self-improvement, I would not be where I am today. This is why every day, I always take the time to thank everyone I love and everyone I know for helping me on the journey that I am about to finish."
