Mitakihara breeze by West Virginia, 241-14

Quarterback Robert Harwell passed for 586 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for 166 yards and two more scores as Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi cruised past the West Virginia Mountaineers, 241-14, at Mitakihara Stadium in Mitakihara Town, B.C. in the pouring rain. Halfback Rob Wade ran for 176 yards and four scores to anchor the ground game.

Wide receiver Mike Smith caught six pasdses for 128 yards and four touchdowns, Wade caught six passes for 104 yards and two scores, wideout Nate White caught five passes for 129 yards and three majors and wideout Kelvin Sanders caught five passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Wideout Justin Rucker led the blockers with 16 pancakes, while Sanders added 14.

Senior right Lawrence Blair had the biggest day for the Magi on defense, with 12 sacks. Cornerback James Reyes and middle linebacker Steve Meyer added five sacks each, while cornerbacks Chris Robinson and Shedrick Johnson had three interceptions apiece. On special teams, backup quarterback Reggie Miller returned 10 punts for 337 yards and three touchdowns.

"We wanted to impress the recruits that came this week, although Mother Nature tried to put a damper on things," Coach Kaname said after the game. "I think it would take a miracle for our recruits to change their mind after the show our players put for them."

Madoka improve to 3-0 and return to action next week against Colorado State.
