Following the 2049 college football season, Mitakihara Magi head football coach Tatsuya Kaname signed a $7,000,000 CAN contract to coach the football team over six years. His contract with the team goes until 2054. Coach Kaname has led the Magi to 37 BCS championships and only one losing season.

"Coach Kaname is the heart and soul of our Magi football program, and it's important that he continues to do his part in steering our team in the right direction," said athletic director Mami Tomoe. "Throughout his years of being the man in charge of the football, he's developed a strong, consistent tradition of building leaders organically, and developming the everyman into a winner.

"He exhibits professionalism, leadership, and trust amongst his coaches and his players. I am excited at what the future will bring and I look forward to continuing the success we've had at this wonderful institution with our football team leading the way."

"Every new contract brings new challenges, but the expectations are the same," Coach Kaname said at the press conference. "Mami and I talked about our plans to expand Hakurei to make this place sort of a second dorm for the football team, as well as the other teams who consider this a home.

"And we have some amazing new plans on the way as we inch closer to our 40th anniversary. We're installing a new artificial turf surface, improving our climate-controlled temperatur simulation system, and installing 3D holograms of players on our practice field to allow our players to visualize their opponent and make it feel like they are playing they game before playing the game.

"Once again, I am proud to say that these are exciting times for Magi football, and the mood here at Madoka is one of optimism and excitement."
