This year's Magia Day 2050 is supposed to honor the Class of 2051 and the promise they have as the leaders of tomorrow. However, this has been all but overshadowed by the emergence of a freshman sensation that has gone viral over the past few weeks.

Hashtags like #Pig4Heisman and #Haru4Heisman in support of Mitakihara Magi quarterback Haruyuki Arita are popping up all over the twittersphere, and the number of followers on Haruyuki's twitter has risen to 600,000 and counting. On Haru's facebook profile, there are exactly 1,000,000 Likes.

Not that senior strong safety Andy Williams is complaining.

"On the contrary; I think it's a good thing that the pressure has been taken off of us and it's all on the kid," Williams said after practice at Hakurei Centre. "We know that we've enjoyed our time here at this university, but it's all about Haruyuki this season.

"I mean, how can you stop the guy? He's got a cannon for an arm, he's quick, he's hard to tackle...and he's 5'5", 400 pounds! That's a freak of nature right there, and he's pretty good. He's the reason why we are where we are right now.

"Us seniors? We've been taken along for the ride by this guy. It's been great to know that a freshman like him is doing the chaffeur work for us. It makes us look really good. I hope he does well in his classes and makes the most of his time here, because all of us have."

The Magi host the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors this week at Mitakihara Stadium on Magia Day 2050. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by City, TVA Sports, ESPN 2, NHK and BBC.
