New offense (or sort of new), same old result.

Quarterback Haruyuki Arita passed for 135 yards and a touchdown and ran for 263 yards and three more scores as Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi football team ran through the South Carolina Gamecocks, 121-14 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C.

Halfback Marques "Duke" Murray ran for 305 yards and three touchdowns, halfback Chauncey Wilson ran for 252 yards and three more scores and halfback Kyle Bean ran for 39 yards and another trifecta of majors on the ground. Three other players scored touchdowns on the ground, and one of them was wide receiver Timothy Fernando, who led the sporadic receiving game with two catches for 45 yards and a touchdown. Fellow wideout Trey Lester led the blockers with 21 pancakes.

Middle linebacker Jeff Nakazawa led the defense with 17 tackles and an interception. Defensive tackle A.J. Meyers added three sacks, while cornerback Tony "Bubba" Hubbard had a couple of picks. Kicker Chris Lawson started the new year off with a bang, converting all of his kicks, including a season-long 50-yarder.

Mitakihara improve to 1-0 and will stay down south to continue their road trip next week against the East Carolina Pirates in a rematch of last year's BCS National Championship Game.
