Mitakihara slap hapless Utah State, 234-49

Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi, now ranked No. 2 in the land by all of the college football rankings, wasted no time in showing no sympathy for the Utah State Aggies, destroying them 234-49 on Saturday night at Romney Stadium in Logan, Utah. Quarterback Haruyuki Arita passed for 514 yards and seven touchdowns while rtushing for 117 yards and two more scores.

The game marked the breakthrough performance for junior halfback Marques Murray, who ran for 285 yards and seven touchdowns. Halfback Tommy Washington ran for 79 yards and four scores, fullback John Nelson rushed for 153 yards and two majors and fullback Zach Howe rushed for three more short touchdowns on the ground.

Tight Travis Murphy had another big night, making eight catches for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Takumu Mayuzumi had five receptions for 109 yards and a score, Washington had another five catches for 99 yards and a major and wideout Kelvin Sanders had three catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. Also with a receiving touchdown were wide receivers Timothy Fernando and Troy Lester.

Right tackle DeMario Childs led the blockers with 19 pancakes while Sanders had 11 and Lester had 10. Cornerback James Reyes led the defense with 12 tackles and four sacks while right end James Curtis had three sacks. Three other players on defense had two interceptions each.

"These next few weeks, we're not going to pay any attention to the polls," said Coach Kaname after the game. "Next week, we focus on UNLV and shutting down their high-powered attack. We're not thinking about anything else but the Rebels at this point in the season."

Madoka improve to 11-0 for the year and conclude the regular season on the road in Las Vegas against the UNLV Rebels.
