Gir's Weekly Column: Volume 40

Hey there, readers. It's me, Gir Todafunk, back with another Weekly Column for the Daily Magi and Magi Football Blog. And what I can tell you is that we are close to finishing up this long and tedious road trip. Well, the team for this week is on campus, but next week, we're on the road again and we're heading to Fresno to take on the Fresno State Bulldogs in the Battle for the Rose Arrow Trophy. Yes, that trophy that has always been in our possessions, even during out bad season in 2031.

I understand that scouts have been shipped out to Morgantown, West Virginia this week. That's because the Oklahoma Sooners have been the next team to leapfrog ahead of us in the AP Poll. The previous week, it was South Carolina, but they fell. So now we're still second in the AP Poll but we are first in the initial BCS Standings. However, I think we are going to drop to second when the next rankings are released.

We'll still be in contention for a spot in the title game in Glendale, but we have a bit of work cut out for us. For the most part, the schedule is easy until we face UNLV. For the time being, our focus lies solely on the Bulldogs. Fresno have had an average season, so hopefully things will work out in two weeks when we face then.

We don't sell opponents short, however, and we know how important it is to keep out win streak going. So we plan to keep it going as long as possible. That's 300-something games...an NCAA record, and we set another record in terms of win streaks before our current one. So we broke the record twice. Once Coach Kaname retires, maybe we'll let go of the streak, but I don't think it's going to end.

We're like a talent generator, a big, bold, brave factory of footballing talent. From unassuming everyman to NFL-ready superstar...that is the four-year process that takes place for many of the students. I'm only a sophomore, so I'm only going to be halfway through the process when I'm done.

Alas, there will be no top 10 list from yours truly. Yeah, I know some of you folks are not too happy with this and some of you are belated, but with this being a bye week, there isn't really that much to talk about. Oh, maybe I will go ahead and rank my top 10 places to eat in Fresno. There we go, I haz un idea! Bonne chance!

So, until next week, I am Gir Todafunk, the world-famous Mr. Wonderful who snagged Player of the Week honors for my six sexy interceptions...signing off! You are not alone.
