No shutout, but Madoka shut down New Mexico 82-7

Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi may have taken the foot off the gas pedal late, but it was something they could live with as they crushed the New Mexico Lobos, 82-7, before another sellout crowd of 20,000 at Mitakihara Stadium in Mitakihara Town, B.C. Quarterback D.W. Hinoi passed for 224 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 120 yards and two more scores.

Halfback DeMarcus Washington continued his Doak Walker defense with nine carries for 39 yards and four touchdowns, while halfback Michael Wilkerson ran for 106 yards and a score. Washington also led the receivers with five catches for 42 yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Matt Lewis had two receptiosn for 64 yards and a major.

Wideout Jon James and left tackle Evan Lightfoot led the blockers with six pancakes each. Freshman defensive tackle Ryan Bowers made a name for himself on Saturday, leading the way with five tackles and four sacks. Defensive end Ryan Hodge and right outside linebacker Jason Kennedy added two sacks each.

Mitakihara improve to 3-0 and begin a long five-game road trip starting next week against the East Carolina Pirates.
