Mitakihara Magi running backs coach Rio Onjouji and receivers coach Ron Takakamo will be retiring from their positions at the end of the season. Onjouji will be the head coach for Division III Willamette University next year, while Takakamo will be the next head coach at Division III side Pacific Lutheran.

"I regret nothing from my time here at Mitakihara University," Takakamo said when asked of his time coaching the receivers. "I've always considered myself a candidate to be the boss at a small school here in the Northwest, and now I get my chance as the coach at Pacific Lutheran.

"Pacific Lutheran is like a mini-Mitakihara. There's a casual, intimate atmosphere at PLU and it makes me want a piece of it. So I look forward to coaching the Lutes next year and building it into a powerhouse team. I thank the people at Mitakihara University for giving me an experience that I will never forget for as long as I live."

"Mitakihara University has been good to Rio Onjouji and for that I will be grateful," Onjouji said at the press conference at Hakurei Centre. "It's been an amazing ride coaching the best running backs to ever play the game of college football. I want to finish my time here at Madoka on a winning note and leave this school a winner. At the same time, I look forward to helping the Bearcats football program next year and make them a championship contender."

The Magi host the New Mexico Lobos this week in the 2057 Mountain West Conference Championship Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by the mtn., City, TVA Sports, NHK and BBC.
