While quarterback Justin Powers did pass for 240 yards and four touchdowns, it was halfback Tony Kalmar that had a field day for Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi in their 104-7 throttling of the New Mexico Lobos at Mitakihara Stadium in Mitakihara Town, B.C. Kalmar, a 5'11, 212 lb speedster from Kitchener, Ont., ran for 372 yards and seven touchdowns on a mind-blowing 73 carries.

"We wanted to let Tony the Tiger run wild today," said Coach Kaname after the game. "He was due for a big performance and a bevy of touchdowns and he didn't failto impress. Kalmar was excellent at wearing down New Mexico. They just didn't have an answer for him. We'll try to let Tony and Tukul [Abdul Rahman] share the reps for the rest of the season."

Wide receiver Jeff Scott ed the receiled the receivers with seven catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns, wideout Mike White had five catches for 85 yards and two scores and wideout Patrick Cox had five catches for 77 yards and two more majors. Right tackle Harold Miller led the blockers with 12 pancakes, while cornerback Bryan Malone led the tacklers on defense with 10 tackles.

Mitakihara improve to 7-0 and hit the road next week to face the Fresno State Bulldogs.
