Despite defeating the San Diego State Aztecs 67-17, Mitakihara Magi quarterback Dean Amakusa suffered an injury early on in the game and had to be replaced by Sam Brown, who passed for 206 yards and five touchdowns. The hope is that Amakusa will be available for next week's game against Hawai'i but his status is currently day-to-day.

"We'll have to examine him tomorrow, but from the looks of things, he seems to be doubtful," Magi coach Tatsuya Kaname said. "But we have a competent backup in Sam and Justin Powers seems to also be back to health. We're going to evaluate Dean but it won't be much of a loss if he is sidelined. Only if we are down to two quarterbacks is when we have a problem."

Halfback Tukul Abdul Rahman ran for 171 yards and two touchdowns, halfback Tony Kalmar ran for 88 yards, wide receiver Jason Bower caught nine passes for 108 yards and two scores, let tackle Charles Mitchell had 20 pancakes to lead the blockers, and four players on defense had seven tackles each.

Mitakihara improve to 9-0 on the year.
