Akiyuki Kaname's Texas Longhorns threw everything and the kitchen sink at them, but in the end, the son could not outduel the father. Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi defeated the Longhorns, 38-27, on Magia Day 2061 at Sakura Bowl Stadium in Mitakihara Town, B.C. With the win, the Magi qualify for the 2062 Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game against an opponent to be determined.

Quarterback Ricky Cojuangco passed for 314 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 59 yards and another score, halfback Dan Roxas ran for 148 yards and two majors, wide receiver Xavier Cooper caught six passes for 123 yards and a touchdown and wideout David Culver Page caught four passes for 75 yards.

Right guard Jamal Ali Muhammad led the blockers with 24 pancakes while left tackle Michael Aryee added 22 pancakes. Cornerback Josh Ravensdale led the defense with two interceptions and five tackles while right outside linebacker Ty Liston added 13 tackles on the night. Left end Jevon Pace and defensive tackle Mike Tsvangirai added 11 tackles while middle linebacker Keenan Osunbor added 10.

"The first part of the season is finished, but now comes the second part, which is the buildup to the third part," said Coach Kaname after the match. "We're going to go all-out with our practices the next several weeks and prepare for our opponent, whether it's Stanford or West Virginia or another opponent. The boys are fired up for this and they're ready to engage in these high-intensity sessions, which we're bringing back. We did this before the last time we were an independent and it's great to start back up this tradition."

Mitakihara improve to 12-0 on the year.
