Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi rolled past the Miami Hurricanes in prime time to the tune of 213-21 at Dolphins Stadium in Miami, Fla. With wide receiver Dee Dee Sonoda injured early with a strained back in the first quarter (Sonoda will be sidelined for three weeks minimum as a result), the young guns needed to mesh and were thrown into the fire early. Quarterback Haruki Takayama passed for 661 yards and six touchdowns and ran for 263 yards and five more scores, but a couple of new faces impressed.

Freshman halfback Jansen Onjouji ran for 326 yards and six touchdowns and caught four passes for 72 yards and a score. Freshman wide receiver Steve Takakamo also made an impression, catched seven passes for 473 yards and four more majors. Backup halfback Ryan Johnson, a junior, ran for 246 yards and three scores.

Wide receiver Shane Balogun, another freshman, had 26 pancakes to lead the blockers while Takakamo added 18. Tackling was quiet this time around, with three players leading the was with seven tackles each. Freshman right outside linebacker Sonny Miyanaga had four sacks and two interceptions, left end Ken Atago and senior right end Dakota Obabe had three sacks each, and cornerback Takeshi "Tarzan" Takagi had three picks and nine swats.

Mitakihara improve to 1-0 and continue their road trip next week against the Duke Blue Devils.
