Mitakihara cruise past UNLV, 59-14

It was a subtle blowout for Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi as they defeated the UNLV Rebels, 59-14, at the Sakura Bowl in Mitakihara Town, B.C., to advance to the 2066 BCS National Championship Game in Pasadena, Calif. Quarterback Haruki Takayama passed for 297 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Magi to the win.

Halfback Bruno Okuno ran for 107 yards and a touchdown, halfback Ryan Johnson ran for 84 yards and another score, fullback James Stanley rushed for 54 yards and a major and wide receiver Zac Chabangu caught five passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. Left guard Sean Scott, a redshirt freshman, had nine pancakes while center Marcus Anderson had eight.

A quiet defensive performance was led by cornerback Victor Ejide, who had 10 tackles. Right outside linebacker Clint Obinna had eight tackles and a sack, strong safety Chris Niskanen had five tackles and nan interception and right end Cole Jordan, the defensive captain of the Magi, had four tackles and two sacks.

Mitakihara improve to 12-0 and await their opponent in the 2066 BCS National Championship Game.
