Scouts send to check on Alabama...

A group of Mitakihara University students and two fans have been sent by Magi head football coach Tatsuya Kaname to scout the Alabama Crimson Tide, a possible opponent for the Magi despite having lost to them earlier this season. They are Itsuka Shikabane, Miki Shirasagi, Natasha (with her assistant Roboko), Renge Komadori and Kate Hoshimiya.

Shikabane is the fiancee of free safety Lea Eino, Shirasagi is halfback Bruno Okuno's fiancee and Komadori is wide receiver Dee Dee Sonoda's new fiancee who recently moved with him in the dorms. Hoshimiya is a grade school student at Aniplex Academy, while Natasha is a computer engineer, a recent alumnus of Madoka and works freelance. The scouts will be escorted to Tuscaloosa by graduate assistant Ricky Cojuangco, a two-time Heisman Trophy winning quarterback for Madoka, as well as university staff.

"The battles of world conquest and stopping world conquest seem distant now," said Natasha. "Now we are on the same team: to help put Madoka Magi Football to the top. I've heard many great stories about Alabama and their tales of world conquest. I wonder what the Tide will do for a second chance against our team?"

"Scouting is a lot of fun," Shikabane said. "I used to do it a lot when I was in the military, but now as a civilian, it's not as intense but it's still a lot fo fun work. I've never been to Alabama, but if the locals are asking for trouble, I got our back. You can count on it."

"Bruno asked me if I could pitch in and maybe assist the team with something, and I said sure," said Shirasagi. "It's a change of pace, and with the distance learning element added to the curriculum, we won't miss a single assignment when we're on assignment this week."

"I know that Alabama had a player that used to be on the Madoka Magi [wide receiver Sean Acheampong], but he transferred because he wasn't getting as much playing time," Komadori said. "I'm lucky that my partner is earning a lot of playing time as a wide receiver so I don't think I will be getting a lot of complaints from Daiki. It's pretty selfish to demand playing time if you're a freshman. But, what's done is done, and I want to do this so I can tell Daiki that I was a Madoka scout. I can even put it on my resume!"

"We know that there are other teams that are also in the mix, sunch as Texas A&M, Penn State and Baylor," said Hoshimiya. "We're not going to worry about those teams. We're gonna be concerned about Alabama because that's our assigned team to scout. And we have to relay what we know about them to Coach Kaname and we're done. That's all we have to do. But I think it's gonna be a lot of fun."
