Mitakihara clamp down on Notre Dame in snow, 73-21

Winter finally came to Canada, and in the pouring snow at the Sakura Bowl in Mitakihara Town, B.C., Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi poured the pain on Raul Chaser's Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 73-21. Quarterback Terry Miyanaga ripped apart the pass defensive of Notre Dame, throwing for 279 yards and four touchdowns while also gaining yards on the ground, rushing for 104 yards.

Halfback Jansen Onjouji ran for 122 yards and a touchdown, halfback Clay Robinson ran for 78 yards and two majors and fullback Joe Sato also ran for a pair of short scores. Wide receiver George Griffin led the receiving corps with 153 receiving yards and a long 74-yard touchdown reception, while wideout Shane Balogun had six catcheds for 59 yards and two scores. Wideout Steve Takakamo also had two catches for 37 yards and another major.

Left guard Sean Scott could be on his way to winning the Outland Trophy. The 6'2", 262-lb senior from Lexington, Va. led the blockers with 12 pancakes. Right guard Brandon Freeman had eight pancakes while left guard Caleb Brown added seven. Right end Harry Atago led the defense in tackles with 10 tackles. Middle linebacker Danny Miyanaga and cornerback Brian Pits each had eight tackles and an interception while left outside linebacker Patrick Hunter added two more picks.

Mitakihara improve to 11-0 and can clinch a return to the BCS National Championship Game with a victory over the Brigham Young Cougars in Magia Day 2068.
