Mitakihara clobber California, 91-14, on Magia Day

Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi are one win away from defending their Pentagram of football national championship trophies. They demolished the California Golden Bears, 91-14, at the Sakura Bowl in Mitakihara Town, B.C. to qualify for the 2068 BCS National Championship Game, subject to the final BCS Rankings.

Haruki Takayama, who looks set to finish a runner-up in the Heisman Trophy race barring a miracle, passed for 236 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 109 yards and another score. Halfback Bruno Okuno also put on a strong performance on Magia Day, rushing for 131 yards and four touchdowns. His successor, Jansen Onjouji, ran for 140 yards and three more majors.

Wide receiver Shane Balogun caught eight passes for 124 yards, wideout Dee Dee Sonoda caught five passes for 74 yards and a score, and wideout George Griffin caught four passes for 75 yards. Center Cole Wright sealed up his Rimington Trophy with 14 pancakes while left guard Sean Scott hadd 13 pancakes and left tackle Jasper Tanaka had 10. Cornerback Tarzan Takagi led a quiet defensive performance with four tackles and two interceptions.

Mitakihara improve to 12-0 and await their opponent in the 2068 BCS National Championship Game.
