A classic tune from decades ago was blaring on the Mitakihara Magi team bus: "Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit," made famous by the late Dame Gina Gardner, a.k.a. Gina G. Only this time, the sound was updated to be a bit more crisper, and smoother and relevant to the current decade. Actually, it was sung by Rex Hasegawa's wife Chacha on a recording at the Kajiura College of Arts that was produced by Rex, who is a music major.

The players were nodding to the music and it got them going. The mission: get at least six safeties. They bettered that and had 10 as Tatsuya Kaname's Magi football team obliterated the Missouri Tigers, 252-21, at Faurot Field in Columbia, Mo. After the match, a rather smug Tatsuya Kaname addressed the media.

"Well that felt absolutely fantastic," Coach Kaname said after the game. "I promised you all last year we'd ring up six safeties on Missouri and we ended up scoring a perfect 10. That's even better. Our pass rush really made everything click, and the boys really wanted to get on my good side today.

"Many of the returning players, I think, were quite pissed at giving up safeties at home to Missouri for three straight home meeting that they wanted to chase the Tigers out of their own stadium. I only wanted six, but I suppose getting a few extra is just icing on the cake. We're going to enjoy this victory but it's the start of a long season and the boys will need to take this one day at a time."

Mitakihara improve to 1-0 and travel to Athens, Ga. to face the Georgia Bulldogs next week.
