Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 58-31, on Homecoming 2069 at the Sakura Bowl in Mitakihara Town, B.C. Quarterback Terry Miyanaga passed for 170 yards and a touchdown but it was the legs of Jansen Onjouji that won the night for the Magi. Onjouji ran for 194 yards and three touchdowns, while fullback Drew Childs ran for 59 yards and halfback Joe Sato ran for 57 more yards.

Wide receiver Steve Takakamo caught three passes for 75 yards, wideout George Griffin had two catches for 25 yards and a score, Sato caught four passes for 38 yards, and both right guard Brandon Freeman and left guard Caleb Brown had 19 pancakes while allowing one sack each. Cornerback James Boye led the defense, with 16 tackles, while middle linebacker Danny Miyanaga had an interception and both of the Atago brothers each had a sack.

"This wasn't one of our best performances, but it's a win that we will take," said Coach Kaname after the game. "Jansen played a terrific game. He's got the type of field vision that you want to see in the NFL. He can read where the linebackers are going and cut upfield for some nice gains. D.J. [Aito] was a player that we tried to recruit when he was a high school third-year, and he played a great game as well, but he couldn't do it alone, and that was a big bonus for us."

Mitakihara improve to 3-0 and hit the road next week to face the Brigham Young Cougars.
