Mitakihara return to BCS National Championship

Quarterback Terry Miyanaga passed for 286 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 78 yards and another score as Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi drove past Raul Chaser's Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the snow of the Sakura Bowl in Mitakihara Town, B.C., to the tune of 52-27. Halfback Joe Sato ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns, halfback Jansen Onjouji ran for 75 yards and halfback Shannon Agyei ran for 59 yards and another major.

Wide receiver Will Atsu caught eight passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns, wideout George Griffin caught four passes for 87 yards and Sato caught four passes for 41 yards. Left guard Caleb Brown led the blockers with 18 pancakes, left tackle Mario Washington had 16 pancakes and right tackle Willie Khumalo had 13 pancakes while allowing one sack.

Defensively, the Miyanaga brothers shined in their curtain call. Middle linebacker Danny Miyanaga had 10 tackles and an interception while right outside linebacker Sonny Miyanaga had eight tackles and a pick. Left end Ken Atago and defensive tackle Kent Nanase each had seven tackles and a sack. Halfback Justin Jack opened up the scoring for the Magi with a kickoff returned 83 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Mitakihara improve to 12-0 and await their opponent for the 2070 BCS Championship Game.
