Quarterback Russ Opare passed for 118 yards and ran for 395 yards and five more scores as Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi defeated the Georgia Bulldogs in the rain, 83-42, at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. Halfback Joe Sato ran for 257 yards and three touchdowns and halfback Drew Childs ran for 167 yards and two more scores to lead the Magi rushing attack. Sato also led all receivers with six catches for 38 yards.

Wide receiver Chris Babatunde led the blockers with 27 pancakes while wideout Will Atsu had 26 pancakes and wideout Larry Igiebor had 12. Cornerback Alvin Chibsah led the defense with 12 tackles, while middle linebacker Ernest Macklin, cornerback Marlon Boakye and strong safety Shiroyuki Kaname each had an interception. Right end Rex Hasegawa and left end Lex Hasegawa each had three sacks while left end Jamaal Taha had two sacks.

"Our pass rush was on the money and that's what you need to have the edge over your opponents in wet conditions like this," Coach Kaname said. "We decided to keep the gameplan simple and throw sparingly because of the rain. Russ, Joe and Drew did a great job running the ball and I think we will continue to focus on this gameplan for the next few weeks."

Mitakihara improve to 2-0 and travel to Pasadena, Calif. next week to take on the UCLA Bruins.
