Mitakihara win shootout over Alabama, 83-44

The Alabama Crimson Tide gave Tatsuya Kaname's Mitakihara Magi a test for stretches of their match at the Sakura Bowl in Mitakihara Town, B.C., but the Magi weren't going to be denied in their 83-44 win. Quarterback Terry Miyanaga passed for 295 yards and three touchdowns and backup Russ Opare passed for another score while halfback Jansen Onjouji ran for 178 yards and four touchdowns.

Miyanaga ran for 69 yards, halfback Joe Sato ran for 106 yards and two scores while catching four passes for 76 yards and another major, fullback Drew Childs ran for 37 yards, wide receiver Will Atsu caught seven passes for 86 yards and a major, Onjouji caught five passes for 65 yards and a touchdown, and wide receiver George Griffin caught four passes for 100 yards and another score.

Right guard Mitch Zango and left guard Caleb Brown each had 19 pancakes to lead the blockers, while left tackle Mario Washington added 18 pancakes while allowing one sack. Middle linebacker Danny Miyanaga led the defense with 10 tackles while his brother, right outside linebacker Sonny Miyanaga, had nine tackles and a sack. Cornerback Henry Waris had six tackles while cornrback Haku Ichijou added an interception.

Mitakihara improve to 10-0 on the year and are back in action next week against the USC Trojans.
