Opare's throwing problems continue as Madoka run past Notre Dame, 96-3

The throwing problems for Mitakihara Magi quarterback Russ Opare continued, as he threw for 220 yards and an interception. But despite all that, he ran for 439 yards and six touchdowns as Tatsuya Kaname's Magi ran past the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 96-3, in prime time at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind. Halfback Joe Sato ran for 194 yards and a touchdown, halfback Drew Childs ran for 173 yards and two scores and halfback Justin Jack had a couple of majors on the ground.

Wide receiver Anthony Injura had three catches for 75 yards while wideout Will Atsu had three catches for 46 yards. Left guard William Carter led the blockers with 26 pancakes, wide receiver Larry Igiebor had 17, left tackle Mario Washington had 14 pancakes and center Andy Benson had 10.

Defensively, the Magi were up to snuff and were led by middle linebacker Ernest "Tabarnak" Macklin, a 6'2", 220 lbs junior from Quebec City, Que., who had 21 tackles and two sacks. Defensive tackle Ron Hase had eight tackles and five sacks on the day, strong safety Shiroyuki Kaname had 11 tackles and free safety Haku Ichijou had an interception.

Mitakihara improve to 4-0 on the year and continue their season on the road next week against TCU.
